Sambonet's Filet Toiras Diamond White Gold PVD pattern features a design that's commonly called "thread border, teardrop shape"; in this case, the thread border is also repeated on the underside of each piece, with an extra loop under the bowl of the spoons and extra long tines of the forks. The handle is a modified teardrop, as there is an extra flair at the end to give the pattern a decidedly French look, which is appropriate as the pattern is named after a famous French hotel.
It is one of the most popular styles, and with its simple styling it will coordinate with any style of tableware, plain or complex, but probably works best with traditional dinnerware. Each piece is made of top quality 18/10 Stainless Steel, and is backstamped Sambonet, which adds a luxurious touch to each piece. PVD, which stands for Physical Vapor Deposition, gives the objects exceptional colors and shades. It consists of the deposition of metallic particles through vaporization in a vacuum chamber. The coating is welded on an atomic level to the stainless steel, giving the material greater hardness and resistance to rubbing and corrosion, thereby preventing the formation of rust or oxides. Thanks to the use of non-toxic materials such as titanium and zirconium, PVD is also used in the biomedical field as scalpels or surgical blades.
