FAQ: Do you carry restaurant flatware?

You could certainly use the stainless flatware we sell in a a restaurant, but it's generally not recommended for a few reasons:

Single metal alloy preferred
Flatware that is more expensive is typically made withn 18/10 steel for the forks and spoons, and a higher carbon steel alloy for the knife blades. It gives the knife a sharper and more durable cutting edge, but doesn't hold up as well with restaurant use.

Restaurants use very high temperature dishwashers to get their utensils cleaned quickly, and with high sanitation requirements. When metals of different alloys come into contact with each other in the wet, high temperature environment, it can cause staining.

Sticky-fingered customers
There's a reason that most restaurants glue down the kitschy accessories that sit around the tables; some people steal stuff. If the flatware is too nice, it'll be stolen too. Better to use something that's durable, but not too nice, so potential thieves will leave it.

Cost
You can generally save a lot more money by purchasing only the items you need, and in bulk by using a restaurant supplier. Expect to pay around $1 to $3 per piece with a restaurant supplier of flatware, as opposed to $3 to $20 per piece on this site.
